May 14, 2017, marked the end of undergraduate studies for 92 students of the Class of 2017. Families, friends, and professors gathered to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of these students during their four years at RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K). The ceremony was held at the RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) campus in the presence of the RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) board of trustees, faculty, staff, and other honorable guests.
The ceremony was officially marked open with the Flag Ceremony executed by KSF Cadets, which was followed with the national anthems of the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America. In this part of the ceremony, RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) President, Dr. Sharon Y. Hart officially introduced the event.
The most emotional and remarkable part of the ceremony was the acknowledgement of the achievements of our outstanding students. This year, three students were recognized as ‘Outstanding Scholars,’ a distinction awarded by the RIT main campus in Rochester, NY, USA. The awards were presented to Robert Ejupi, Jehona Karavidaj, and Fjoralba Krapi by Mr. Daniel Cosentino, Vice President for Academic Affairs at RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K), and Dr. Jim Myers, Associate Provost of International Education and Global Programs at RIT.
The Class of 2017 was first addressed by Robert Ejupi, class valedictorian, who emphasized the high quality of education offered at RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) and recognized the outstanding RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) faculty. Likewise, Fjoralba Krapi, a student representative of Class of 2017, expressed the pride she feels for belonging to such a prestigious institution with a multinational community.
The Student Delegate address was followed by a musical interlude, where RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) students Yllza Hoti and Petrit Berisha performed a violin-piano instrumental, and Alba Ymerhalili performed a song. Additionally, RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) student Anita Morina performed a slam poetry dedicated to her graduating class and the exciting experiences they’d had during the last four years.
The RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) community and stakeholders had the privilege and pleasure of hosting Ambassador Vlora Çitaku who also addressed the institution’s 13th graduating class, by once again reaffirming the quality of education in our institution. Among others, she said: “I have also had the honor of having worked with a number A.U.K alumni. Allow me to say it openly, and I’m not just saying this to please you, that you are no different from your peers in the United States. You are no different from students in the best US universities”.
Finally, Dr. Jeremy Haefner, Provost at the RIT main campus, awarded degrees to the RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) graduating class of 2017. Students graduating from RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) receive a Bachelor of Science in Applied Arts and Science from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, USA.
To conclude the ceremony, the graduating Class of 2017 threw their caps as a sign of completing their journey of hard work and dedication during these last 4 years. RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) wishes all of them great success in their future careers.
