On Saturday April 22, 2017, the Student Government of RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) organized the fourth edition of TEDxA.U.K at the Grand Theater of Klan Kosova. This year’s theme, “Invent Yourself,” explored the art of invention from a unique angle and included a series of six thought-provoking speeches.
The speakers for this edition of TEDxA.U.K were all individuals who dared to step out of their comfort zones and take a step further in achieving their goals of self-actualization. Each of the six speeches presented a different line of thinking on what it means to challenge the conventional and offer new alternatives.
The first speaker of this edition was Arta Shehu-Zaimi, co-founder of JCoders Academy, who described her experience as one which included a lot of innovation forward-thinking. Following Ms. Shehu-Zaimi’s speech was the one delivered by Darlene Grant from Peace Corps Kosovo who talked about her journey of finding her purpose in life and the moment when she realized that social work was what fulfilled her the most.
As part of the second batch of speakers was Garentina Kraja of RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K), Valdrin Sahiti from Valdrin Sahiti Studio, Berat Buzhala from Gazeta Express, and Fatmir Zymberi from Scan Color/JYSK/KFC. Each speaker tackled their topic with passion and offered some valuable insights on what it means to follow your dreams, be determined to achieve something, and have the courage to try something new.
With 250 attendees, the event was estimated successful in bringing “ideas worth spreading” to the audience. The success of this event is highly attributed to the TEDxA.U.K team, made up of 34 hard-working SG representatives and volunteers. In addition to the brilliant speeches delivered by the speakers, RIT Kosovo™ (A.U.K) student Yll Limani performed three songs during the event.
