The Artan Venhari Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), in honor of the late Mr. Artan Venhari. Artan (1974-2019), a beloved friend to many, lost his life in a paragliding accident near Prizren, Kosova on September 7, 2019.
At the request of Artan’s wife Ms. Hana Xhemajli , A.U.K Foundation is accepting contributions from the community to create a scholarship that will support talented young students with demonstrated financial need to study Governance and Public Policy at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K).
Artan Venhari dedicated much of his life and career to good governance, public policy, civil service and civil society. Through various organizations, he has tried to affect the effective formulation and implementation of sound policies to improve the quality of life for Kosovo citizens over a long period in sustainable ways. His professional work left a mark at Kosovar Initiative for Democratic Society, Kosovar Stability Initiative (IKS), European Agency for Reconstruction, Kosovar Institute for Policy Research and Development (KIPRED), Kosovo National Audit Office (KNAO), USAID Transformational Leadership Program Immersion and Public Service Courses and the Decentralization and Municipal Support project (DEMOS).
“Nothing gave Artan a greater pleasure than solving pressing social issues,” says Hana Xhemajli. “He took tremendous delight in talking with various people from all walks of life, facilitating dialogue and proposing creative solutions to solving social and policy related problems”.
“The imprint Artan Venhari left on our project for a very short time will never fade,” says Kosovo Country Coordinator for Helvetas and Project Director of the Decentralization and Municipal Support project (DEMOS) II, Mr. Norbert A.E.M. Pijls. “Artan set high standards, and was tireless in his commitment to achieving them. He gave a lot of himself to the cause of excellence in civil service. DEMOS is proud to join in this scholarship initiative to support new students that would carry forward Artan’s vision of participatory, accountable, transparent, responsive, effective and efficient, equitable and law-abiding governance”.
“Artan’s smile was infectious, and today, his spirit of optimism, kindness, and dedication remains, in that it lives on in people who share compassion with others and the world around them.” says Visar Jasiqi, the Chief Operation and Outreach Officer at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K). “We are proud that our charitable Foundation has joined the initiative and hope that scholarship recipients will possess many of the characteristics and qualities that Artan exhibited in his life.”
The first Artan Venhari Memorial Scholarship will be distributed in June 2020 for Fall Semester to cover the tuition of talented students with demonstrated financial need that choose a concentration of Governance and Public Policy as one of their study concentrations at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K).
Much of Artan’s sports gear has been put for sale by Artan’s wife Hana, to generate scholarship funds and combined with the donation pledges by his recent employers Helvetas and RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), the Artan Venhari Memorial Scholarship fund has reached pledged contributions of 15,000 Euro’s thus far. It is Hana’s wish to award two full scholarship to at least two students over their course of concentration study. Furthermore, Artan’s family and friends wish this to be a lasting tribute to one of our community’s most vital, selfless, dedicated professional and a passionate sportsman.
For this purpose, the target for the Artan Venhari Memorial Scholarship fund is to reach 25,000 Euros in contributions by June 2020 and we are inviting all friends and other people of good will to join this initiative.
Your financial donation, as well as pledges of your time and/or resources to publicize, share and fundraise is gratefully accepted. 100% of donations will be awarded in the form of scholarships.
All donations will receive receipts for the donor’s tax reporting purposes, and will be recognized in RIT Kosovo (A.U.K)’s Annual Report.
