President’s Welcome

Sharon HartAs President of RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), I would like to extend a warm welcome to you on behalf of the faculty, staff, students, and the Board of Directors. I am proud to welcome you to one of the most vibrant places of learning in Kosovo!

I joined this institution in May of 2016.  Since that time, I have been able to see first-hand the impact the university has on the greater Kosovo area. It is indeed one of the finest higher education institutions in the Region.

RIT Kosovo (A.U.K)’s rise to prominence, since its inception in 2003 as the American University in Kosovo, has been remarkable.  This is due to many factors: our exceptional and highly dedicated faculty and staff; and, our key and world-renowned institutional partner that awards our degrees  – Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).  When I meet with business leaders, I hear them often remark that our success is measured by our fantastic graduates.  Our graduates are leaving our university equipped with the right skills to include a career-oriented degree that has incorporated skills in critical thinking, effective verbal and written communication, reasoning, team building, and research.  With an annual employment rate of approximately 95% of our graduates, that is the highest employment rate of any higher education institution in the country. Our pursuit of excellence in teaching, learning, and now research, is making a difference in the lives of those we are here to serve – our students.

Also, our university excels beyond credit offerings and degrees.  Through our robust Training and Development Institute (TDI) we are committed to advancing the Kosovar society into becoming a more competitive one.  The professional development opportunities we provide to individuals and businesses, our strong link with the workforce community, and the certification of skills we have obtained with key organizations, for example with Cisco, are representative of this community development program.

I invite you to visit our campus in Prishtina.  We are a diverse and growing community, with a beautiful location near Germia Park.  You will find students here from many countries, including the United States.  But we are small enough that we can work individually with our students to help each one to reach their own goals.  As a result, our students build life-long friendships and a strong sense of community.

My door is always open to welcome you to RIT Kosovo (A.U.K).  Stop by and visit!

Sincerely yours,

Sharon Y. Hart, Ph.D.
